National, state and local examples of human rights and trafficking legislation
Human Trafficking Collaborative Network, Institute for Public Health, and National Council of Jewish Women jointly offer this four part lecture series to help community members fully understand national and local law making procedures and to play an active role in reform of policies in human rights and trafficking. Open to the public
Thursday, October 18th, 2018: Overview of Relevant Legislation This session will explore legisla-tion that is currently being debated at the national, state and local levels, what other legislation is still needed and why change is necessary.
Thursday, November 15th, 2018: Legislative Process: National and Local This session will look at how laws are made and how one can influence the process.
Thursday, February 21, 2019: Federal and State Laws: Overviews and Gaps This session will give an overview of federal, state and local laws and how individuals can impact change.
Thursday, March 21, 2019: Existing Laws: How They Punish, Harm or Help Those in the field will explain how laws are used to prosecute traffickers and how current laws harm and/or help victims.
